HISTORY OF NSS

A Brief History Of The College.N.S.S College was founded by Swami Vishadnanda, President of Sree Ramakrishna Ashram, Palappuram and was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Prabhakaran Thampan on 10th July1961. In July1962 it was upgraded and shifted to the present site . The premises of the college consists mostly of donations from Smt. K.P.S. Menon and Sri. Vapala Sankaranrayanan Menon . There have been others too who must indeed be remembered with gratitude . At present this institution is a full fledged Grade 1 college with almost all subjects taught at the P.D.G. and Graduate level and with 5 Post-Graduate courses.

Ottapalam (Malayalam: ഒറ്റപ്പാലം) is a socio-culturally significant town in Palakkad of Kerala in south India. Situated on the banks of the Bharathapuzha (also called the Nila), it has a rich cultural heritage and has played host to many historic events. Headquarters of the taluk by the same name, it is one of the municipalities of the district. It used to be a major town of the erstwhile Valluvanad, during the reign of the Zamorins of Calicut. The principal spoken language is Malayalam. It is also known for Kalluvazhi chitta, one of the most evolved styles in Kathakali, originated in and around Ottapalam. Pariyanampatta temple, Kattukulam, also known as Valluvanad's Mookambika Temple is situated in Ottapalam
